Our History

In 1988, Dr. William Jackson and his wife Audrey visited the Philippines and were surprised at the number of children suffering from disfigurations like cleft lip/palate, crossed eyes, and clubfoot.

Shortly after, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation (MDF) was formed. Children were brought in from all over the country to a recuperative care house in Manila and the first surgical program was organized at St. Luke’s Hospital. Since then, the foundation has expanded to countries all over the world where they mainly provide eye services notably known as Charity Vision. With the help of our parent organization Charity Vision, MDF includes hundreds of volunteers operating out of numerous medical facilities located in the regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

For every donation that we have received, nearly 100% worth of professional services and medical supplies has been delivered to those in need here in the Philippines.

Today, because of MDF, Charity Vision, hundreds of volunteers, doctors. and our generous supporters, we provide over 6,500 life changing surgeries in the Philippines each year.

Vision

We envision a community who works together to care for individuals with disfigurations and other debilitating conditions.

Mission

Our mission is to find patients within our scope, maintain recovery houses and partner with local doctors and hospitals to facilitate life-changing surgeries and procedures for those without means including: cleft surgeries to restore dignity, eye surgeries to restore independence, clubfoot correction and prosthetic legs to restore mobility.
